Research Consortium
Advancing the science of fatherhood
The Australian Fatherhood Research Consortium is a collaboration of researchers, practitioners and policy makers. We exist to advance the science of fatherhood, inform practice and policy that supports men and their families, and promote healthy inclusion of fathers in family life.
The Australian Fatherhood Research Symposium
Each year in May, the Australian Fatherhood Research Symposium (AFRS) brings together a passionate and knowledgeable community of researchers, practitioners and policymakers who are interested in advancing fatherhood research and practice across Australia and beyond.
Registrations and abstract submission for the AFRS 2026 are now open!
The Fatherhood Knowledge Bank
Coming soon!
Currently in development, the Fatherhood Knowledge Bank will be a hub for high quality literature reviews related to fatherhood. The reviews will provide the most up-to-date evidence on what matters for preparing for fatherhood, understanding the diverse needs of fathers, evidence based supports for fathers, and the ways in which fathers impact their partners and children.
AFRC Research
The AFRC working groups work towards advancing fatherhood research and publishing their findings in peer-reviewed journals to inform practice and future research.
The Fatherhood Bulletin
The Fatherhood Bulletin gives dads a voice to convey their experiences of fathering and provides information about up to date research on fathers’ wellbeing and on their role in their children’s and partners’ lives.
